Low cost multi purpose Test Bench, Jorge Ayarza, MinVayu, India

Testing a turbine before it is installed on a tower is a fundamental necessity, especially when building different turbine sizes and designs. For this purpose in India we set about building a universal test bench for Hugh Piggott turbines. Our aim was for ease of installation, flexibility and low cost. We built a metal frame with wood supports for vibration dampening. The drive consists of a 4hp variable speed motor that is connected to the turbine using v belts and pulley.
